Why did the salmon cross the road? Apparently, because they were migrating upstream. But why did that include crossing a road? We’re not sure, but someone captured a video of it happening (otherwise we wouldn’t believe it).

“We saw something amazing today in Washington state!” wrote Michael Wayne in his Instagram post sharing the video from November, which has more than 460,000 likes. “Salmon migrating upstream at a low water crossing!”
In the footage, you see cars stopped as dozens of salmon flap around in the flooded areas on either side of the road. Some intrepid fish cross the road right in front of Wayne as he records, but there seems to be a traffic jam of fish that have crossed but can’t quite make it out of the dip on the other side of the road.

Many commenters chime in saying the video is “cool,” “awesome,” or “amazing.” Others say it’s not awesome.
“This is not cool,” wrote one person. “The road is running over their migration corridor. It’s being flooded because the culvert isn’t the right size.”
