A recent post in the r/bigfoot Reddit community has revived a conversation about one of the most intriguing potential Bigfoot sightings in recent times. A nature documentary called Great North (2001) examines the Arctic landscape and Inuit traditions of the region, but is it possible the professional film crew also captured video of a Bigfoot?

Though the video is two decades old, one reason this potential Bigfoot sighting is so interesting is because the people behind the camera were professionals using professional equipment. Typically, when you see a photo or video of a creature someone is claiming is Bigfoot, it’s fuzzy, amateur footage, and you often question the person’s motives. (For instance, were they in on it with some person in a Bigfoot costume?)
Below is a clip of the documentary showing a caribou herd traveling along a river in the high north of Quebec, Canada. Some of the caribou run into the water and begin swimming, while most of the herd veers away from the river and continues running alongside the river.
Four seconds into the clip, you see a black figure appear in the middle of the screen behind the caribou herd. It runs along in the same direction as the caribou herd for three seconds and then disappears behind a hill or ridge (it’s hard to tell).
The camera continues to pan to the right, following the caribou herd, as if nothing happened.

Documentary Director Busts Claims It’s a Human or Bear
In an interview with ThinkerThunker, one of the directors from the nature documentary who was behind the camera at the river that day, William Reeve, speaks directly to claims that the strange figure is a crew member, a bystander, or a bear. Reeve claims there’s no way it could be a human, as they were a small party of nine crew members and they were hundreds of miles from other people.
While he admits bears could potentially be present in that area, Reeve says the crew didn’t see any bears while they were filming the documentary. Further, he speculates that if it were a bear, it would be moving differently. The figure in the footage appears to be running on two limbs, while bears run on all fours.

What do you think about this decades-old mystery? What’s on the other side of the river—is it a human, a bear, a Bigfoot, or something else?
