Lightspeed Outdoors Stratton 2 Backpacking Tent Review

Easy set up and no rain fly.

We had a chance to try out the Lightspeed Outdoors Stratton 2 backpacking tent last week, and for the most part thought it was a great piece of equipment. The tent is solidly built, and like everything else from Lightspeed, was very easy to operate. Their top-pull hub system is foolproof.

As you can see in the video, you just pull the strings and it pops up. We loved that. It’s a bit on the heavy side for a long range backpacking tent, but for a 3 mile hike out it would be fine. The Lightspeed Stratton 2 is also a single ply tent, meaning no rain fly. Of course, this also means that the tent won’t breath as well as a regular tent, so there is a pop-out rear vent that provides a very nice cross flow.

At $110 we think it’s a great value.
