

“Wow, look at that dog, big dog, no bear!” said one homeowner in Grandview, Missouri. “We really weren’t expecting that.” The black bear was sauntering through the man’s yard when he spotted it and called wildlife authorities. Turns out, Eber Pearson wasn’t the first person in the area to see the bear; a Grandview police officer had also seen it near the local Taco Bell.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, most Missouri bears live in the southern portion of the state, south of Interstate 44. However, it is becoming more common to see them outside of their core range.
