Yesterday, a rock fall at Zion National Park forced a road closure and affected shuttle service within Zion Canyon. A viral video shows rocks and debris tumbling from a massive cliff face on the side of the road that cuts through Zion Canyon. A shuttle appears to be caught up in the rock fall.

Local meteorologist Matt Johnson shared the video from Erin Leach, writing: “A rockfall in Zion National Park yesterday (8/24/26) caused a road closure affecting shuttle service in Zion Canyon. [. . .] Rockfalls are a natural part of the local topography and happen regularly. Water, temperature and gravity are constantly, but slowly, changing the canyon walls of the park.”
The closure meant Zion Canyon shuttles could not travel beyond the Grotto.
