NEWS: A Moose Attacked a Man and His Dogs in Colorado

A female moose attacked a man and his dogs earlier this week near the South Meadows Campground in Colorado. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is now warning residents to give wild animals distance and to be on their guard when moose are in the area.

Local news reports that the moose was with her young calves when she “chased down” a man and knocked him to the ground. The man rolled under a vehicle to escape the enraged animal, but she stomped on his two dogs. One of the dogs was so injured that it needed to be euthanized. The moose also charged at the man’s wife, who escaped by running into their home.

In this case, the man wasn’t approaching the moose; he was just coming outside to call his dogs back into the house. However, the moose became aggressive likely because she felt her calves were threatened.

The moose and her family moved on to a more remote location on their own, but CPW has posted signs warning residents about a potentially dangerous moose in the area.
