Snow Leopard Attacks Skier Who Got Too Close for a Selfie

A skier in China spotted a snow leopard and tried to get close to take a selfie. Unfortunately, the animal felt threatened and attacked the person, leaving the skier injured and hospitalized but in stable condition. Snow leopard attacks on humans are rare, as are snow leopards themselves.

The Global Times reports that the skier was a tourist visiting the Talat village area of Koktokay Township. The person was reportedly heading back to a hotel when the incident occurred. Bystanders stepped in to help the person to safety. Footage circulating online shows the skier covering his/her face while being helped by several people.
