South Isle Family Campground Camping
Camp Minnesota: I’m talking with Wally this morning. Him and his wife own South Isle Family Campground in Minnesota. They are over by Lacs Lake. How’s it going this morning, Wally?
Wally: It’s going well.
CM: So, let’s start with how long South Isle Family Campground has been there and how you guys got started.
Wally: We bought campground in 1991. It was a campground before that, but really in poor condition. So, since then, we bought it and expanded, and made it nicer.
CM: And so, just not too long ago here. Congrats on breaking twenty years. It must be going okay for you.
Wally: Oh yeah, it’s a great life. Hard work, but enjoyable.
CM: So, what types of camping do you guys offer specifically there?
Wally: Our main goal is to offer a family place. Everything from tenting to RVs.
CM: Okay. And what are the most popular activities for the guests there?
Wally: Just ever weekend we have special activities that are planned out. Plus we do train rides on our Rainbow Express train. Wagon rides. Paddle boating. Frisbee, golf, and just all kinds of things.
CM: Okay. And outside of the campground, what are some of your favorite attractions in the area that you recommend to guests?
Wally: Right across the highway from us is Fiddlestix Golf Course, so there’s a perfectly place for the golfers to go. They get a little discount when they camp with us. It’s an 18-hole very, very nice course. And in addition to that is Lake Mille Lacs and all the activities involved with that.
CM: Okay, just two more questions for you, Wally. If you were going to spend just one hour hanging out at South Isle Family Campground, how do you like to spend your time there?
Wally: Oh, probably at the pool.
CM: Nice.
Wally: Or just sitting and relaxing by the campfire.
CM: That never gets old, does it?
Wally: Right.
CM: And if you were going to spend just one night in South Isle Family Campground, which specific campsite would you choose and why?
Wally: Well, if I had my little grandkids with, I’d want to be by the playground so that I could sit and watch them there.
CM: Perfect.
Wally: Otherwise, by the pond and watch the paddleboats and the wildlife.
CM: All right. Well, thank you so much for chatting with us this morning, Wally. We’ll get this info out to our listeners and we’ll be promoting South Isle Family Campground at 50Campfires.com.
