An animal-control officer in Colorado received a lot of love online after rescuing an adorable animal from a glue trap. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office posted a body-cam video of Animal-Control Officer Rupe’s rescue of a very sticky chipmunk. The animal would have died had she not stepped in to remove it, clean it, and release it.

“Animal [Control] Officer Rupe found herself on another rescue mission when a chipmunk got stuck in a glue trap at a local business,” wrote the Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post. “With some mineral oil and plenty of patience, she carefully freed the little critter and released it back into the wild. The chipmunk zipped up a nearby tree, hopefully on to a much less sticky chapter.”

The Sheriff’s Office notes that glue traps may seem like an easy solution to pest control, but they can do more harm than good. In some cases, these devices entrap pets and wildlife instead of the pests they’re intended to catch.
“If you are looking to remove unwanted guests, search for more humane options,” the Sheriff’s Office urges the community.
