Trail Cams Capture Variety of Wildlife at Arizona National Memorial

Trail cameras are an excellent way to survey wildlife in an area without having to camp out for long periods of time and/or disturb wild animals as you attempt to observe them. The National Park Service (NPS) recently posted a compilation of clips from various trail cams at an Arizona NPS site showing all the animals that made a cameo, including deer, an owl, a mountain lion, a bear, foxes, and more.

Coronado National Memorial is down by the U.S./Mexico border in Hereford, Arizona. It protects land associated with the Coronado Expedition, a quest undertaken by Francisco Vásquez de Coronado in the 16th century. As evidenced by the activity by the trail cams, it’s also an important area for wildlife.

“Somebody’s watching me,” wrote NPS in its Instagram post sharing the trail-cam clips. “Oh, wait. It’s just a mountain lion. Over the years, the wildlife cams around the local watering hole at @coronado_nps have captured a variety of animals, including great horned owls, skunks, javelinas, mountain lions, deer, black bears, coyotes, and more, to drink, gossip, share that email from Dawn, gossip, and potentially cool off.”
