Graham “Dingo” Dinkelman, the Steve Irwin of South Africa, has died from a venomous snake bite. His family released a three-part statement on Dinkelman’s social media pages providing some details about the wildlife enthusiast’s death, as well as some touching words about his life’s lasting legacy.

Dinkelman, who was 44, was a content creator and a conservationist who had a knack for getting others excited about wildlife. His wife, Kirsty, said on Instagram that her husband passed away on Saturday, October 26 after spending a month in the ICU in an induced coma. Dinkelman was allergic to snake venom, and he went into anaphylactic shock after being bitten during the last week of September.
Dinkelman was a father to three children, ages 14, 12, and nine. The family had recently started a new YouTube channel, The Dinkelmans, which focused on providing “wholesome family content” and sharing conservation messages. His family says they will continue Dinkelman’s legacy by “promoting conservation and continuing to share his sense of awe and wonder with the world.”Â
