The Dodo shared the impressive story of wildlife rescuer Karenlynn Stracher. Stracher was just living her life, waiting for a pie at a bakery when she received the call. The call was urgent and stated that an animal was in danger and needed her assistance. Naturally, Starcher did not hesitate.

A Good Samaritan who lives near the water noticed the fluffy lump nestled on the boat dock. After a quick inspection, she realized it was a rabbit, and the poor thing was trapped. With the tide coming in, this bunny was sure to drown. This rabbit was in desperate need of a rescue.

Luckily, Stracher arrived at the scene promptly and with the right tools. She approached the dock with “a net and carrier in hand.” When speaking to the outlet, Shracher admitted that when she “saw the rabbit in person, [her] heart sank a little bit.” The rabbit was quite low, and the situation was turning dire rather quickly.

The wildlife rescuer knew she would have to extend her net very far to reach the little critter, which meant she would have less control of it. Shracher was going to have to act fast.

The Impressive Rabbit Rescue

The experienced wildlife rescuer knew that she only had one shot to get this right. If she miscalculated and spooked the rabbit, the poor thing could jump right into the water and drown. Ever so slowly, she lowered the net down, towards the rabbit.

Shracher successfully managed to maneuver the net around the rabbit without spooking him. Then, she scooped him up into the net and brought him back to the safety of dry land. After the incredible rabbit rescue, the wildlife rescuer quickly examined the little guy for injuries. Once she deemed him fit and in good shape, she released him back into the wild.

“Watching him run away was the most exhilarating feeling,” she told The Dodo. “Clearly, I made a difference in this creature’s life, and, to me, that’s what wildlife rescue is all about.”
