According to multiple news sources, White was training for the Mountain Bike World Championship. Investigators say a 23-year-old woman in a car hit and killed White on Sunday. Alcohol and speed are not thought to be factors in the crash.

USA Cycling posted a memorial for White, saying, “We offer our heartfelt condolences to the White family, his teammates, friends, and the Boulder community during this incredibly difficult time. We ride for Magnus.”

White won the 2021 Junior 17-18 Cyclocross National Championships, then competed for an entire season of European Cyclocross with Team USA. He went on to compete in cyclocross events until this year, when he made the jump to mountain biking.

The mountain bike championship event is set for August 10 in Glasgow, Scotland.
