Tonight, Friday, January 23, 2026, starting at 8 PM Eastern/5 PM Pacific, Alex Honnold will free-solo climb a skyscraper in Taiwan, and the world can watch it live. Honnold will climb the 1,667-foot Taipei 101 skyscraper without ropes or safety equipment, and he received special permission from Taiwanese authorities to do this. Netflix is airing the stunt live during a two-hour special called Skyscraper Live. To watch, you’ll need an active Netflix account.

In an interview before he flew to Taiwan, Honnold said he likes to say “yes” to interesting life experiences, and receiving permission to climb a cool building in a cool place met that criteria for him. Honnold famously free-solo climbed El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, which is much taller than Taipei 101, but urban climbing provides a different sort of challenge that Honnold seems excited to take on.
