Camping Mount Diablo State Park in California

Mount Diablo State Park change season to season and is a true ecological treasure in the San Francisco Bay Area. The park has an extensive system of trails, amazing wildlife, and unique rock formations.

Camping at Mount Diablo State Park

Mount Diablo has 56 campsites. Some sites can accommodate RVs 20 feet long. Trailers are not advised because of road conditions. Group sites are available as well and some have horse facilities.

Amenities at Mount Diablo State Park

The visitor center is open all year and features a gift shop and an audio visual room. Accessible parking, ground level entry, and a restroom are available for handicapped access. The park has an observation deck equipped with telescopes and an interpretive center with a gift shop. Campsites have hot showers and flushing toilets. The group campsites have pit toilets nad running water.

Things To Do at Mount Diablo State Park

Enjoy the amazing views Mount Diablo State Park offers atop its 3,849 foot summit. More trails are available for walking, hiking, biking, or riding horseback. The visitor center has instructional video to tell visitors how geological forces formed the mountain. A diorama with sound explains the parks ecosystem and its cultural history. The Mitchell canyon Interpretive Center has displays about the park and interpretive materials. Rock City is a fun place to look at sandstone formations that are unusually large.

Mount Diablo State Park Hours
Gates open 8 AM and close at sunset. Visitors are advised to be in their vehicle by sunset and on their way out to avoid being locked in the park.
Visitor Center: 10 AM to 4 PM
