When Cory and Julia Greenfield spotted some orcas off the coast of Oceanside, California, they turned off their boat’s engine and leaned into the experience (literally). A video circulating online shows Julia leaning over the side of the boat. She’s holding a camera on a stick, taking underwater footage of the curious orcas, which had come to inspect the boat and the humans on board.

“Cory and Julia Greenfield were so impressed by the number of orcas surrounding their boat that Julia leaned over the boat to try to get an underwater shot,” wrote The Washington Post in its Instagram post sharing the Greenfields’ footage. “The couple said when the orcas approached them, the Greenfields put their boat in neutral and did not touch the whales.”
