A park/retention basin in Mesa, Arizona, recently flooded, and the locals didn’t waste the opportunity. Footage from photographer Jeremy Johnson shows kids playing in the water, which is chest deep on them, as well as a person kayaking, and a person on a paddle board.

Johnson notes that the area usually serves as a soccer field. After a deluge of rain, though, it did what it’s supposed to do: retain water.
“Soccer fields in NE Mesa [became] lakes this afternoon in NE Mesa where we received more rain in 2 hours today than we have in the last full year!!” Johnson wrote in his Instagram post sharing the video.
