Shenandoah National Park Is the Latest Park to Share Its Bad Reviews

Another national park is sharing its bad reviews online—a popular social media trend for parks over the past couple of years. Shenandoah National Park is the latest to post some of the not-so-kind remarks about the park and its famous Skyline Drive.

Check them out:

Skyline Drive is one of the park’s most popular parts, cruising 105 miles along the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along the way, visitors find plenty of trails and sweeping views of the Appalachian Mountains.

However, not everyone is happy to drive down the historic roadway.

Comments include:

  • You literally drive 104.5 miles in the woods with absolutely nothing to see. It’s woods, no different than at your house. Yes, there are overlooks, but like baby elephants, if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.
  • We read a lot about the Skydrive and were quite disappointed. It could be because of the foggy weather, or maybe we are used to better things.
  • I have done this drive twice, and the second time, it got a bit old.
  • Do not be fooled by its trails. Make sure you are prepared for the trails if you walk on them. Take plenty of water and a map if you are not an experienced hiker.
  • Nice windy roads to drive through, but once you drive the Pacific Coastal Highway, nothing can come close to it.
  • My 5-year-old was bored.
  • I have to admit that I was disappointed. I think if you like to hike a lot you would like this.

In response, park officials wrote in their post: “Good or bad, every experience is unique in Shenandoah National Park. We love the honesty, and we hope these folks give us a second chance.”
