A heart-wrenching case surrounding two deaths in Utah’s Canyonlands National Park has no clear-cut resolution yet. Investigations are still underway after a tip about a suspicious vehicle inside the park led to the discovery of a deceased 6-year-old boy with “no obvious signs of trauma.” Near the vehicle, officials found a deceased woman—the boy’s mother.

The pair had been reported missing in Colorado by the woman’s husband and the boy’s father a couple of days before the gruesome discovery. In a press release posted to social media, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office-Utah suggests that investigators are treating the case as a homicide/suicide. At this time, there is no further information about the victims or the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
