A woman will have to pay nearly $15,000 after damaging a petroglyph on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land in southern Utah last year. Local KSL News reports that the woman, Daniela Ganassim Ericksen of Ivins, Utah, also faces 12 months of probation for her crime.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) wrote: “Ericksen was also ordered to send a letter of apology to the relevant stakeholder tribes in the area and is prohibited from entering on to Bureau of Land Management land during her probationary period.”

The DoJ explains that Ericksen’s conduct was illegal, and it cost about $12,000 to repair the petroglyph panel.
