Hilarious But True: Watch a Bison Get Its Head Stuck in a Car Window

A large bison at Parc Oméga, a wildlife park in western Quebec, had a startling encounter with visitors when it got its head stuck in an open car window.

The hilarious incident, which took place in 2021, shocked park visitors and staff alike.

According to Leonardo Heizer, a visitor at the park who captured the now-viral video, someone in the car had opened the window, which somehow enticed the bison to put its head inside the vehicle to investigate.

The animal, which weighed probably 1,000 pounds, was finally able to free itself from the car after about 10 minutes without harming itself or the people inside the car.

While the bison was unharmed, the incident caused significant damage to the car. The windshield and the column between the front window and the windshield were both damaged, said Heizer.

According to park staff members, these types of incidents are quite rare. Safety rules in place are designed to prevent such an incident from happening.

For instance, Parc Oméga forbids visitors from opening their windows in the bison enclosure, as well as feeding the animals. The fact that this happened at all is a reminder of why visitors should have made sure at the time and, going forward, they know of and follow the rules.

“All of our safety rules have been put in place to avoid any incidents, such as what happened on Sunday, and just to ensure the safety of both animals and our visitors,” said Lucy Robertson, a staff member at Parc Oméga, told Ottawa’s CTV News.

After the incident, Parc Oméga remained open and continues to welcome visitors today, who flock there to see the bison, but also a variety of wildlife including bears and deer.

If you’re ever visiting a wildlife park, you might want to make 100% sure your doors and windows are closed and locked. This video may have ended up being funny, but there’s no reason to risk being on the receiving end of a bison’s rage.
