A new video shows a very different kind of confrontation in a surfing lineup as a sea otter fights with a surfer.

The video was initially shared by Surf Matters, who in a post identified the surfer as Dr. Dave. You can see him getting ready to catch some waves on his inflatable surf mat, but an otter in Santa Cruz, CA, had other ideas. The animal fights with the man before swimming off with the mat. The post says Dr. Dave couldn’t get the surf mat back either.
