A bear recently broke into a Juneau hotel called The Alaskan. A housekeeper discovered the animal in the room next to the one she was cleaning, so she alerted others and helped to close the bear in the room. Then, they called authorities. By the time authorities arrived, though, the bear had broken through the window and escaped. No guests, staff, or bears were harmed.

Local KTOO News shared footage of the bear inside the hotel and reported the story. A regional supervisor for Alaska Department of Fish and Game told KTOO that it’s a “lean time of year” for bears in Juneau, so it’s not surprising to see them in town.
