A peaceful moment between a wild animal and a couple in a parking lot is gaining attention online, thanks to a bystander who captured the moment on video. Roy Holley was watching from across the parking lot when a deer calmly walked up to an elderly couple that appeared to be consulting a paper map. They were engrossed in their conversation as the animal walked right up to them, sniffing the air.

Finally, the couple notices the deer, and the man even appears to give the animal a pat on the head. Holley doesn’t tag the post with a location, so it’s not clear where this interaction occurred.

The top comment expresses regret that viewers can’t see how the couple reacted when they finally noticed the deer’s presence behind them.
“I’m so annoyed that the camera person didn’t record the human’s reaction seeing the deer. I wanted to see!!” wrote the commenter.
“Y’all [the deer] was helping with directions, but he couldn’t see the map!” joked another person.
