Gear of the Year Awards 2016: Braven BRV-XXL

The Camping Authority Announces Annual Gear Award for the Braven BRV-XXL.

There are two schools of thought on camping speakers: one being pro-music at the campsite and the other (we’ll call them “wrong”) is against music at camp. Music is the glue that holds our camping trips together and having a speaker that will keep up with our endless playlist is important.

A perk? You will never have to hear the phrase “Hey, can you turn it up? I can’t hear it.” Four HD audio drives, paired with a kicking subwoofer, blasts sound from both sides of the Braven BRV-XXL. We love the fact that the BRV-XXL allows you to adjust EQ settings for a variety of music and situations. Adjusting treble and bass couldn’t be easier, and it even has a built-in microphone jack for that one friend that insists they are a good singer. They aren’t. We understand, but we’ll all continue to humor them. At 18 pounds, this isn’t a backpacking Bluetooth speaker. We understand that, and we don’t care. It takes up barely any space in your car and is rugged enough to stand up to our eventual mishandling of it.

If you are responsible for bringing the party to the campsite, look no further than the Braven BRV-XXL.
