It’s been a deadly snake season so far in California. Officials have released details about another person who died from a rattlesnake bite—the third death in California since the beginning of the year. Wildlife officials are warning folks that these venomous animals are particularly active right now.

The latest victim is an unnamed 78-year-old woman from northern California. She received three rattlesnake bites while walking in Redwood Valley last month, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. Medical professionals treated the woman in a hospital, but she ultimately died from her injuries.

The first two deaths happened in southern California. First, there was 25-year-old Julian Hernandez, who was bitten while mountain biking in Irvine. Then, there was Gabriela Bautista, 46, who was hiking at Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks.
